Local Retailers Tee Off for Make-A-Wish
Charity Golf Tournament raises $40,000 to make Wishes come true for sick children
CALGARY (July 20, 2011) - Five local children battling life-threatening medical conditions will have their wishes come true thanks to the efforts of Jersey City Canada, Capz Canada, and Ivanhoe Cambridge.
On July 20th, 36 teams teed off at the sold out event to raise money for the Make-A-Wish® Foundation of Southern Alberta. For the sixth year benefitting Make-A-Wish, the tournament raised $40,000 for the charity. Since 2006, Jersey City and Ivanhoe Cambridge have helped make the dreams of twenty one children come true due to their efforts by raising over $180,000, and it likely won't stop there.
"It has been such a pleasure being associated with the Make-A-Wish Foundation," said Alf Garvin, Executive VP/CFO of Jersey City Canada. "The cause that Make-A-Wish fights for tugs at everyone's heart strings. We continue to raise the bar and our team is always up for a new challenge."
Support from community partners and local organizations such as Jersey City & Ivanhoe Cambridge allows the Make-A-Wish® Foundation to bring hope, strength, and joy to local children who need a respite from the challenges of living with a life-threatening medical condition.
Through this year's fundraiser, Jersey City, Capz, and Ivanhoe Cambridge will sponsor the cost of five entire wishes for children through the Foundation's Adopt-A-Wish® program.
